Waratah On York is a charming heritage listed Victorian style mansion located on an elevated position just 10 minutes’ walk from Launceston’s city centre.

This unique Launceston accommodation features off-street parking and complementary WiFi access.

Waratah on York offers ten uniquely appointed rooms, each showcasing high ceilings and original architectural features dating back to 1863. Select rooms also include a bath and picturesque views of the city. Blending timeless charm with contemporary comforts, we have thoughtfully preserved the property’s historic character while enhancing it with modern amenities to ensure a truly relaxing and memorable stay.

Location

Waratah On York overlooks Launceston City Park and is a 10-minute walk from the heart of the city, and a 15-minute walk from the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery. Cataract Gorge is only 3.5 km away, and Launceston Airport is a 20-minute drive.

As the building is located on the top of a hill, the access from the car parking area is via stair access only (approximately 25 stairs). Some rooms are located on the 1st floor and are only accessible by using stairs. Please note that this property does not have an elevator.

To minimise the number of stairs from the car parking area, you are welcome to park temporarily in the York Street council parking area upon arrival. From there, simply walk around the building to Reception, bring in your luggage, and proceed to move your vehicle to our designated guest parking area after check-in.
